♥jailaxmi
Hi, I recently discovered that I am supposed to charge tax for shipping within my state, so I added a new NC shipping tax rate in my admin and also set up the shipping module to add tax when it goes to NC. I tried it, and it is not showing the shipping tax during checkout. It adds the sales tax for goods, but not for shipping. I have a second OSCommerce shop that processes payments only through Paypal and the same thing happened: no added shipping tax during checkout on my site (only regular sales tax), but then when the customer is sent to the paypal form to finsih checkout, the extra shipping tax is calculated and simply added as a lump sum for tax, with no distinction between tax for goods and tax for shipping. So, for example, on my site checkout says shipping $1.47 and then on the Payal form it says shipping $1.96. This is very confusing for customers! It seems that I am telling my customers, your total is such and such, but then they are charged more (because of the extra shipping tax). I haven't completed a transaction in the shop that accepts credit cards directly, so I don't know if the merchant service would actually charge the extra tax for shipping, but the thing is that I want customers to know how much they are paying, and for what, before they pay. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks. [email protected]
I have the same problem. The tax is calculated on the shipping, but only the tax on the product is reported. The grand total is correct, but it looks like it doesn't add up. The worse problem is that the card only gets charged for the tax and not the product! Please help. I'm using v2.3.1 with no add-ons except the Merchant e-Solutions payment gateway. Thanks, Mark

♥jailaxmi
This doesn't work for me. If I enable display with tax, then the item's price is always displayed with tax, even though I only charge tax within NC, and then during checkout NC tax is added to the already taxed price. If that is enabled, shipping includes the tax, but it is not itemized. So I had to go back to disabling display with tax, and haven't figured out this issue yet. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
