Best Sitemap Generator?

Hi,

I was wondering if any can point me in the right direction of a sitemap generator. I've been using freemap generator up to now but it won't recognise the oscommerce part of my site.

I need something that can create a sitemap of my existing non-oscommerce site as well as the oscommerce site.

Many thanks, Helen

Assuming you mean a site map for the search engines, as opposed to one on site, you should use the contribution named "Google XML Sitemap SEO." If you mean an on-site site map, then use the Sitemap SEO contribution. Use both for best SEO results.

I use A1 Sitemap Generator and am quite pleased with it. If you want to see if it works for you, the trial version is fully functional.

Hi, Thank you for your referral.

I downloaded it and it's running. My website has around 1100 pages, but the sitemap is now (3 n half hours later) saying I have 12,500 Internal URLS and 17,000 External URLS. Do you know if this is normal? Or should I stop it now?

Many thanks, Helen

Just in case this comes up again, I used A1 site map generator. It's a free trial for 30 days and it's absolutely brilliant!

It DID take me 6 n half hours to create the sitemap, and I went to bed leaving it running. I thought it was broken to be honest and expected to have to close it down this morning.

It worked and produced not only an XML sitemap but also a reasonable HTML sitemap. I say reasonable, not brilliant - it could look better but maybe I need to mess around with the code a bit more.

So just an update as I couldnt' find anything on google about this.

This is not meant as an attack on the program since I've never heard of it until this thread. But I'm just curious as to why someone would pay for something that is free (in the form of the contribution I mentioned). And over six hours to run??? The contribution takes a minute or two to complete, if that. Plus, sitemaps need to be ran regularly since things change in a shop. Do you have to run the program manually every time? I would also question the urls it generates. Most such external programs don't strip the arguments and/or don't remove the session ID's.

If the program works well for you and you are happy with it, then by all means stick with it. Though you may want to look at the items I mentioned.
