making some shipping fileds not required

Hi guys,

 

 

I have setup a test oscommerce store because me and a friend are going to be selling our food online locally.

 

I have managed to edit the address fields to what i want.

 

for instance:

 

instead of "street address" I successfully changed it to "House name or number"

I also got rid of the state, country and city fields as I dont need them here in ireland

 

when i first setup my shop i put a number of test products in to test out my paypal merchant account. i bought products for 1cent and all the transactions went through fine.

 

BUT....

 

now that I have edited the create account page to what i wanted, when i try to purchase a test item, i get the error "The field Shipping Address City is required"

 

how do i make it so this is not required?

 

i have removed the * from the english.php and i have also set the minimum value to "nothing / blank" in the configuration panel

 

i have phpmyadmin on my server and when i log into the "table customers" section i do not see a "city" value to make null
