NEED HELP MOVING MY CATALOG/SITE FOLDER

Recommended Posts

Hello

My site is currently www.ginelectronics.com/catalog . . . I want to change it to just www.ginelectronics.com . Then I want to run the SEO URL contribution. However, I don't know what needs to be done, nor does my ISP. I copied all the files from CATALOG directly into my root folder, but of course that was too simple. Is there a file that I need to update, or does my ISP have to do something? Or, is it just too late to do this with an existing site and database???

PLEASE HELP!!!

Thanks In Advance

JW

A guide to the configure.php files Or how to move your site without breaking anything

You're on a Windowz server.

The SEO contributions use mod-rewrite in .htaccess files.

As far as I know .htaccess files don't function on Windowz servers.

If I suggest you edit any file(s) make a backup first - I'm not perfect and neither are you.

So there is nothing I can do to fix this warning I received while trying to run the contribution: "Warning: fopen(X:/domains/ginelectronics.com//admin/includes/functions/general.php): failed to open stream: Permission denied in x:\domains\ginelectronics.com\admin\file_manager.php on line 51"

I just have to leave my URLs as is???

You can't use .htaccess files on Windowz servers.

Any contribution relying them won't work for you.

I've heard of something that simulates or replaces .htaccess in the Windowz world but can't remember what it was, where I saw it, or how good it really was.
