jaimejigga
Hi, I have noticed that in the last few days I have had four orders from customers who have managed to place the order however have not sent any money to PayPal. Usually any customer who goes to PayPal and then decides against completing will leave the site and a preparing web payments standard note will be assigned to their order on our back office. In these cases though the order comes through as "processing" and when we check PayPal no money has been sent. This is the only way that we take payments on our website so I was wondering how is it possible for someone to place the order and have it returned back to us as "processing" without them making any payment with PayPal. We nearly sent out a £600 GPS before we had noticed that we had not in fact received any money. Cheers.
nhackett
Please check the following immediately. Go to modules - payment - Paypal. Depending upon which version you have - check the email address. This should be the email address you use to collect Paypal payments. If it has been changed - it meams that the customers have paid - but the funds have been diverted to someone else. I had this happen to me 2 days ago. The email address had been changed to [email protected]. When I checked with Ebay they confirmed this account was on hold as being fraudulant. If this has happened to you, you need to: 1) Contact all customers who ordered and apparently paid - where you did not receive the funds. Advise them to open an incident with Paypal to claim back the funds. 2) Contact Paypal and explain the problem - give them the fraudulant email address so that they can stop the account 3) Fix the problem I gather this does not mean you have been hacked necessarily - check out this link to understand the problem. http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/topic/362019-my-paypal-email-address-in-commerce-22-wad-hacked/ There is a solution to the problem in that link - to hard code the correct email address into the page - rather than use a database lookup. I have not had enough time to research further - there may be a newer / updated Paypal module that doesn't suffer from this problem - anyone like to add some comments please do? Hope this helps
