jim21
Hello, Our store recently started to encounter a 500 internal server error when customers are trying to checkout. The 500 error specifically is: "Internal Server Error The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error. More information about this error may be available in the server error log." And always happens with file checkout_shipping.php. A quick check of the error log states the following: quote [Wed Mar 30 21:02:43 2011] [error] [client IP.IP.IP.IP] FastCGI: comm with (dynamic) server "/dir/dir/dir/dir/dir/html-x-httpd-php5" aborted: (first read) idle timeout (60 sec) [Wed Mar 30 21:02:43 2011] [error] [client IP.IP.IP.IP] FastCGI: incomplete headers (0 bytes) received from server "/dir/dir/dir/dir/dir/html-x-httpd-php5" end quote We do use godaddy hosting, and literally spent about 3 hours on the phone but nothing worked. I understand godaddy is a poor hosting choice now, but if you post to remind please suggest a better option. We did change the file association for types PHP4, PHP5, and PHP to just PHP4 or 5 respectively and no FastCGI. The fact that the logs still show a FastCGI error confuses me since we changed that association. I can post the contents of the checkout_shipping.php file, but according to server history the file hasn't been changed since install. I've disable each of the 2 payment methods we use and still get the 500 error, also removed htaccess file with the same results. Running OSC 2.2 RC 2. Any thoughts, suggestions and especially assistance is very appreciated! Thanks, -jim

tincan
W.T.F. Did you find/resolve anything on this? I'm seeing similar things on one of my sites. Thanks.
tincan
Did you find/resolve anything on this? I'm seeing similar things on one of my sites. Thanks. I don't know if coincidence (did shared apache server get rebooted while I was messing w/code?) but I removed my fedex quote shipping module and the checkout_shipping page started loading again (no timeouts). I discovered I was on an old ver (2.02), so updated to 2.07 and reinstalled. No timeouts. There's an interesting comment in v2.07 about godaddy and curl fix nolonger working - maybe that had something to do with it. http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/1462 I hope this might help someone else.
