longhorn1999
Hi everyone, I've been using osC 2.2 for a while, but I have a pretty basic question that I haven't been able to definitively answer looking through the forum. Obviously in the left column we can sort products by categories or manufacturers. And the 'Shop by Price' add-on lets us easily sort products by price. But how can I make a new infobox to sort by color or size for instance? Is there a way to sort products by use, if for instance each product has a specific target audience? And if there is a way, do the drop-down boxes at the bottom of the body in product_info.php need to be visible every time? For example, I'd like to have a box in the left column to sort products by size, but I'd rather not have an extra attribute box below color (which has multiple options) just for size (which has only 1 option per product). AJAX Attributes Manager http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/4063 Option Types V2 http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/6818 I'm guessing that these 2 add-ons are my best bet, but could someone confirm whether or not I'm on the right track? Thanks for the help
longhorn1999
Upon further review I see that others have similar questions about sorting products through attributes in the left column: http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/topic/351915-attribute-filter-for-products-listingphp/ http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/topic/362816-sort-by-size/ Searching again through the add-ons, I see 2 that might be a solution, though I know from the forum that only one or the other is needed. Product Specifications by Kymation http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/7014 or Extra Product Fields v2.31 by Wdepot http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/6856 Or maybe attributes can be sorted through a simpler modification of advanced_search_result.php, as in these 2 add-ons: Attribute Filter Drop-downs http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/5997 or Advanced Search - Attributes http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/2337 Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I should proceed? I would've installed Product Specifications or Extra Fields already but my files are heavily modified because of Spooks' old Product Listing Enhancements and Simple Multi-Images with Fancybox and so these mods are difficult. Any ideas are much appreciated...
longhorn1999
Well I haven't had any feedback here, though I have come across some paid solutions for filtered navigation. Unfortunately Extra Product Fields v2.31 and Product Specifications which I referred to above are extremely difficult to install if you already have Product Listing Enhancements and/or Simple Multi-Images w/ FancyBox (both by Spooks) already installed in 2.2RC2a. I've found though that Product Extra Fields is easy to install. But I'm not 100% sure what the next step here would be to put a specialized search box in a column with dropdowns for these new fields. I do see that one of the very best sites built with osC is the entire family of sites at electricgeneratorsdirect dot com. The navigation they have in their left column is pretty sophisticated compared to a base install. Any ideas on the type of roadmap that would be needed to build something like this?
