I'm running v. 2.2-MS2... is this a problem?

I just inherited an osCommerce site, and I thought it was running version 2.2rc1. I checked the /includes/application_top.php file and it turns out it's 2.2-MS2.

Is running such an old version a security threat?

Also, if I want to upgrade to 2.3.1, would I have to start over completely? Is there documentation for the transition between the two versions?

Thanks!

Mike,

You would have to upgrade from MS2.2 to RC1 to RC2 to RC2a to v2.3.1

Add all of the time required to do that and you would see it is best to start over and use v2.3.1. However, make note that if you have contributions installed in your existing website, some of those may not be available with v2.3.1 yet.

Thanks Chris. Perhaps it's better to stay at the current version for now. Maybe start over at some point in the future.

Couple of points Mike that Chris didn't mention...

How is your security? are you up to date on all the patches?

Also if your host installs php5.3 (I think) you will be getting a lot of warnings regarding deprecated elements and attributes which will eventually stop working all together when php6 is used - again there are patches for this and worth doing if you don't intend to upgrade

Needless to say 2.3.1 has these patches already applied

My store is currently running Phoenix 1.0.3.0

I'm currently working on 1.0.7.2 and hope to get it live before 1.0.8.0 arrives (maybe 🙄 )

I used to have a list of add-ons here but I've found that with the ones that supporters of Phoenix get any other add-ons are not really neccessary

I honestly don't know. Where can I find out how to install the patches and what patches I'm missing? Thanks
