.htpasswd and .htaccess.... on windows

can I use .htaccess and .htpasswd to protect my admin on windows.

i am running apache server on windows and i have been trying to use these files but nothing happens.

 

can someone tell me how it?s done (if possible)

Actually Dick is partially correct & partially wrong. .htaccess doesn't work correctly on Windows if you are using an IIS server, but as long as you are using Apache on Windows, it will work just fine.

If you are running windows 2000 pro or XP pro, you use windows folder security to control access. Right click on the folder and remove those you do not want to have access like guest, or web guest.
