what are the difference between os commerce and zen cart, which once is better

I am pretty familiar with Os commerce but I do not know how is zen cart. Some once told me that Zen cart is easy and good. Module installation is os commerce is so tough but it is easy in Zen cart. But what is good to customize in between zen cart and os commerce how will you suggest me which one is best.

It is a bit odd to ask if Zen Cart is better than osCommerce on the osCommerce forum.

 

The better one is the one that most suits your needs.

Obviously, osCommerce is better! :D Zen Cart is derived from osCommerce, so they share the same underpinnings. ZC has a bunch of stuff added to it, and hopefully has been maintained better. osC 2.3 (if it ever sees the light of day) will be more up to date, at least for a while. If ZC is a "fork" of osC, rather than taking the current osC and adding on the new stuff with each release, who knows what it looks like now on the inside.

 

Since they're both free, I would suggest installing osC 2.3 and ZC and compare them side by side, to see which meets your needs better.

The core code of osCommerce and Zen Cart is very similar. There's not much to recommend one over the other in that respect.

 

Here's how to tell the real difference: Go to the Addons section for each. In osCommerce, you'll find thousands of addons that you can download for free. In Zen, you'll find hundreds of addons to download. See the difference?
