risela Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 I searched and maybe i did not enter in the correct key words, but nonetheless i need help. First off i am going to start of saying that i am a complete novice to all of this so i apologize in advance for my ignorance. So i installed osCommerce through my web host and from the beginning before any modification the front of my store says its a demo store. So my question is how do i put my store in "live" mode. Please step by step instructions are greatly appreciated. Most of the lingo is Greek to me.
a1200 Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Hi the store is not in demo mode as far as I know there isn't such a thing. It just means the store has not been modified for your use. You need to change the front page of your website to say what you want it to. The text is changed at Catalog/includes/languages/English/index.php. There are templates and addons to make changing and populating the front page even easier.

I have done that, but when i go to my web address it does not go to my oscommerce store. so i guess it needs to be directed there somewhere, but i don't know where or how to do that. thanks for responding.
a1200 Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Have you tried going to www.yourdomain.com/catalog? also, see if there is an index.htm or index.html page in the root directory of your store, it could have been put there as a holding page by your ISP if they are there, they should be removed. Alternatively, your DNS settings might need pointing to your server.
