How Does the Search Function Work in osC?

Hello all...Just got my site installed, and was adding products when I noticed that I wasn't sure how to plan for people that would be doing searches for my products. I noticed there is a "Product Description" field and a "Products Keywords" field. Are both of these used for searching when a user uses the Search feature in osC? I could not get the "Product Keywords" part to work. Any Keywords I entered were not returned when I did a search. Can someone give some background on this? Thank you.

Products keywords=Products Name

Products Descriptions=The products description

Search in descriptions is an option of the advanced search.... it puts more load on the server, so it isn't a part of the general search.... there is a contribution that changes the general search to search in descriptions also - it can be found here:

Something is still not clicking here...Why is there a Products Name field AND a Products Keywords field? I can see the need for a Products Name field. However, what purpose does the Keywords field serve? I saw a post earlier about it that nobody responded to. I also put some text in the Products Keywords field and did a search and nothing came up. So, I guess I'm echoing the other poster's question: What is the purpose of the Products Keywords field? Is it used for searching?

Perhaps I'm now seeing the light. I was just told the following:

"I believe that is for your 'Header Tags' keywords - Your snapshot, loaded5

has it built into it.

The individual module and documentation is here:

Basically, keywords that search engines, etc will pick up on in meta tags."

So it looks like these "Product Keywords" are used for external search engines, not the built in search feature in osC.
