alexarae Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 I'm editing a site for a friend, and I thought changing the logo would be as easy as removing the original logo in file manager/images and upload my new one... I did this, and now the image won't show on the front end of the website. (not the 'oscommerce' logo in the admin side, this is fine here - will change at a later date) Am i missing a step, should I be editing code somewhere else as well to make the image show? I thought this programme would be easy to use.... I am so wrong! Any help would be much appreciated, I'm starting to have a bit of a panic over here - thanks!
MrPhil Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 Do NOT use osC's File Manager. It is a nasty security hole, and file_manager.php should be removed immediately. Read up on security fixes that should be made: http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=313323 . Besides the security problems, the File Manager built into osC just doesn't work very well anyway. Now, what exactly did you do to "remove the old" and "upload the new"? Did you make any code changes, or just swap files? Was the new file renamed in the process (from what to what)? What happens when you try to show a page? What happens if you try displaying the image directly in your browser http://yoursite.com/images/logofile.gif or whatever? If you used osC's File Manager to make changes, you might have some file corruption. Can you restore everything to where it was and start the process over, using FTP and a real editor?
