mivox
I'm trying to configure a store for the following situation: We have a brick & mortar store in Alaska and one in Washington... when someone from the lower 48 orders, we'd like to ship the items from the Washington store via UPS. When someone outside the US orders, we'd like to ship via USPS International Parcel from Washington. When someone from Alaska or Hawaii orders, we'd like to ship via USPS Priority mail from the Alaska store. I have the USPS Methods module installed, and have everything set up so that only those three shipping methods are enabled... but I can't figure out how (if it's possible) to specify that all UPS and International orders have originating zip #1, while Alaskan/Hawaii orders have originating zip #2. If the shipping method modules had an option for "originating zip code", instead of having it in the main store configuration section, that would be perfect... but sadly, 'tis not the case. Any ideas?
mikeputnam
We are having the same issue. However, our shipping situation is a little different than the one you described. We are a distributor. We want to be able to drop ship directly from the manufacturer to the customer. However, we work with hundreds of ever-changing manufacturers and thousands of products. So a customer may order 3 products and each product has a different manufacturer and a different shipping origin. Here's my guess at how it may have to be changed to accomodate multiple origin zip codes. The shipping origin (FOB InsertCityorZip) would need to be specified in the product setup/details. Then the shipping could be calculated for each individual item in the cart based on the given destination zip. Am I close?
mivox
The shipping origin (FOB InsertCityorZip) would need to be specified in the product setup/details. That method would work perfectly for the items we drop ship... but for our 'in stock' products shipping origin needs to be determined by destination... If Customer A has Product X shipped to 57602, the origin would be 97516. If Customer B has Product X (same product) shipped to 99745, the origin would be 99701. Does that make sense? mikeputnam
I see. Well, I'm the same boat you are. I was hoping that some of the code-savvy osCommerce community could help us to make a modification to the shipping module. I'm sure that someone who could help you could easily help us as well. Message me if you find someone to help, and I'll do the same! MikePutnam
