Thanks, Alan. Simply use whatever file manager or ftp program you want and upload the files to root, then password protect your /test/directory keeping it for a test shop. After that it is simply a matter of editing the paths in the two configure.php files. Once you have it working you will probably want to reproduce the db and have the test shop use its own so you do not inadvertently delete something in your live db.
