File locations on server.

Hi everyone,

I moved my site to a new host earlier this year. The osc files were positioned correctly on the previous hosts server, but when the site was moved, updating files wasn't working. I told my host the site was not working when I tried to make adjustments to the osc portion of the site. His solution was to take the files from the osc folder and copy them into the root folder. So the same files that are in osc folder are also in the root. The site is working OK. Is my hosts solution to the problem OK? Should the files in osc also be in the root? Just seems odd to me. I was trying to update my robots.txt file when I realized the files I was trying to keep spiders away from were in two places.

Any comments would be appreciated.

If you are only going to have one site on your server then having the osc site in the root is fine.

If the original files were in /catalog/ and are in /catalog/ on your new site try renaming /catalog/ to /old_catalog/.

If everything keeps working you can delete /old_catalog/.
