Hi,

I have been trying for a while now to get my product name from showing like the typical: http://www.yoursite.com/product_info.php?cPath=1_4&products_id=1

to a more acceptable: http://www.yoursite.com/Clothing/Fleeces/Anon-Lap-Fleece-Grey

I'm about to give up! I don't seem to have a way through my current service provider of making any changes to the htaccess file which is causing me to ask for help going around that problem as some of the contributions want you to make changes in that file?

Can anyone suggest a windows server friendly way of doing this? I should also mention that I only really have limited osC skills compared to most out there. So please keep it simple :)

Thank you

It's called Ultimate SEO URL's and you can find it in the add-on pages.

Thanks,

Already looked at that 'Ultimate SEO URLs for osCommerce-MS2' I am currently using osCommerce version 2.2rc2a - probably should have mentioned that fact also. We tried a short while ago to install that version however, our service provider informed us that it was not compatible?

I dont get it, I swithed from a useless Shopfactory website to my current osCommerce site which when there was only 6 products and no addons, just the basic program - those products were found on at least page 3-6 of Google. Now i have a few hundred and it looks less and less like the basic osC version. Other than Google products, it seems like we're just going back to square one with no visible trace?

Forget the last ramble just need a solution to the original question. Any help, guidance is greatly appreciated.

Cheers!

Your solution is whoever told you it was not compatible is wrong. I use it on my shops.

Okay, about to give this another go but, still worried as says its for osCommerce-ms2 and my version is osCommerce-2.2rc2a? Anyone else sure this will work as well as being on a windows server with NO way of accessing/modifying htaccess file?

Thanks

Ah, a Windows (IIS) server could be a problem. Your host should be able to set up the appropriate modules to allow you to do URL rewriting, in a style similar to .htaccess (a file that IIS ignores). I don't use it myself, so I can't give specifics. If your host is too incompetent or rigid to do that, switch to another host with Linux/Apache server. You'll be much happier with that (and they tend to cost less).

Have you looked at Ultimate SEO URLs 5 (http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/6768)? It should be 2.2 RC2a compatible. It even has instructions for dealing with IIS servers.
