gaspower Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 Hello, I am about to install the new version of OSC. Where can I keep track of all updates and patches that come out for OSC. Thanks JR
gaspower Posted October 17, 2010 Author Posted October 17, 2010 Sorry, meant to say up to date patches. Thanks JR
Guest Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 JR, The latest stable version is V2.2 RC2a and only requires the security patches be updated as found in the security forum. Chris
MrPhil Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 Besides numerous security-related patches, if you run PHP 5.3 you will need to do some patching for that. As well, if you run MySQL 5, it will need patching. Then there are random problems (e.g., the navigation member function problem in application_top.php[312]) that just never got fixed. I don't know if anyone has collected all of these patches into one place. There does not seem to be (AFAIK) any formal listing of patches to be applied to a specific release of osC. Obviously, such a list could not be open to update by the general public, but each suggested patch would have to be vetted, preferably while it's being incorporated into the next release. Could the official developers think about setting up a section of this community discussion forum where they could have a restricted-write access listing approved patches for each release? There should also be a place where forum members could suggest fixes that seem to work well, and minor enhancements that no one has bothered to roll up into a formal add-on. The "General Support" parts of the forum could then be free of the clutter of "is there a fix for this?" questions and the same patch repeated 5000 times and minor enhancements that just seem to get lost in all the commotion. Come to think of it, this would likely be a major reorganization of this forum!
