problems with database connection after i replaced config file

hi all

i was hacked into. I have a backup on my host site and i have a backup on my computor of my database details. The problem is i am sure i have replaced the config file and that is why although i am uploading backup my site will still not read my databse. Could this be the case? i vaguely remember reading about someone doing something similar a couple of years ago. if anyone can help i would be grateful.

so long as these match the database side then it will connect (providing there is a database there)
