wireclothman Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 We need to charge tax as follows using our UPS xml module: NJ/TX - Tax on the product + freight FL - Tax on just the product All other US States - No tax Currently I have it set up as follows because this is the best I could do, but I need to be able to break out FL as describe above: NJ/TX/FL - Tax on the product + freight All other US States - No tax Thanks for your help!
wireclothman Posted October 8, 2010 Author Posted October 8, 2010 I figured out the answer to my own question. I needed to add another Tax Class that would only apply to the Freight and have it only apply for NJ and TX (not FL or any other state). So now I have 2 Tax Classes - "Taxable Goods" and "Taxable Shipments". I have the "Taxable Goods" tax class applied to all my PRODUCTS. I have the "Taxable Shipments" tax class applied to my UPS Shipping Module. In the "Tax Rates" section, NJ, TX, and FL all have a Rate Set up using the "Taxable Goods" tax class - this applies to the PRODUCTS. However, only NJ and TX have an additional Rate set up using the "Taxable Shipments" tax class - this applies to the FREIGHT. So I have 5 Tax Rates all together - 2 for NJ, 2 for TX, 1 for FL. Then I went into my UPS Shipping Module and change the Tax Class to "Taxable Shipments".
