Guest Posted September 30, 2010 Posted September 30, 2010 Hi, I successfully installed osCommerce Online Merchant v2.2 RCa. I configured what I needed to configure according the to the documentation.pdf that was included in the download. However, I'm receiving this error: Warning: fread() [function.fread]: Length parameter must be greater than 0 in /[absolute path to]/public_html/ultratrust/asset-protection-book/includes/functions/cache.php on line 60 Here is the page: http://asset-protection-book.ultratrust.com/index.php The error is showing up on the top, left region. How do I resolve this? I notice that my .png was not uploaded when I clicked on the browse to associate a picture with the one product I uploaded. How do I display the picture? Thank you, victor
Guest Posted September 30, 2010 Posted September 30, 2010 I disabled the cache and the error no longer displayed. I'm wondering if it's needed. It seems according to the documentation that it's needed but I don't know if there are any consequences as a result of disabling it. Here is the error as I took a snapshot of it: http://tutorialref.com/images/oscommerce-fread-cache-error.png Any feedback or resolutions to this problem? Is this a known bug?
a1200 Posted September 30, 2010 Posted September 30, 2010 Its not required, but speeds up/reduces loads for generating pages. The error was probably down to a writeable path not being assigned at configuration>cache-->cache directory--> (create a site-writable directory and set the path in that config section of the site)
Guest Posted September 30, 2010 Posted September 30, 2010 Hi a1200, I think I created the cache directory correctly according the documentation.pdf manual that came with the download. I created a tutorial on it: http://blog.tutorialref.com/oscommerce/oscommerce-cache-393.html Did I miss something perhaps? It's a warning from the php so I'm thinking of disabling warning messages but should I be concerned with the warning then?
a1200 Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 I'm not sure to be honest. I never had such a problem with any of my installs. Perhaps an add-on is causing a problem?
fahadonline Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Well I was also having same problem however following trick worked for me. In Configuration->Cache->Cache Directory I removed end slash i.e. CONVERTED catalog/cache/ TO catalog/cache Please try may it help.
