stevrons
Greetings, So in our store you can checkout as a Guest, and when you do you're taken to step 1 of the checkout process which is 'shipping'. On this page the customer enters their address info and selects their shipping method. Now we have installed UPS Choice, but after installing I realized, how is it possible for there to be UPS quotes on the screen there before the person even enters their address info, not possible. So right now, because of this issue, UPS does come up as an option on the checkout screen there, but it says: "We are unable to obtain a rate quote for UPS shipping. Please contact the store if no other alternative is shown." Unless I'm misunderstanding how UPS Choice works, it seems to me there has to be some way to allow the customer to first enter their address info, and then somehow the UPS quote is initiated. Anyone know how this should be done? I feel like there is a simple answer here that I'm just missing. Thanks Edited September 27, 2010 by stevrons
Guest
Steve, Guests MUST sign in before proceeding to the checkout. Once they sign in, their address is used to collect shipping information. Even using PWA there must be customer and shipping information entered before the shipping amount can be calculated. Chris
stevrons
How can a guest sign in? Isn't "guest" defined as a customer without login information because they do not create an account? If they have login information they're no longer a guest. There must be a way to allow the 'guest' customer to enter all their shipping info in checkout Step 1, then hit a button and all that info gets passed to the UPS module the same way it would if they were a logged in customer.
