webwzrd
I'm taking over the upkeep of an OSC 1.2 site and would like to upgrade to current version. I'm wondering if rather then going through what looks like countless steps to upgrade the files if I could simply install the current version and then import the certain database tables to create the products and history? Or any other suggestions to make this a bit easier? Thanks, Brian
Guest
Brian, I suggest installing v2.2 RC2a and start over. I am not sure if you can import the database tables from your version to RC2a but it is possible. Chris
MrPhil
Are you sure you're really back at osC 1.2, or is that some template number or file version? See http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=283185&hl= to check your version. If you really are that backlevel, I don't think there's any kind of automated transfer -- you'll probably have to do a bunch of manual cleanup when you import your old database (as an .sql file) into osC 2.2 RC2a (or 2.3, when and if it comes out). New, changed, deleted fields; different tables; all that fun will have to be manually checked over and straightened out before you can import the database. Very insightful Phil - you were absolutely right. I must have been reading that number from something that didn't pertain to the version! // Define the project version define('PROJECT_VERSION', 'osCommerce 2.2-CVS'); I can probably find some instructions on this, however any tips would be appreciated. We are still on the 2.2 timeline today, so updating should not be difficult, but will be time-consuming.
