mc21repsol Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 There's a very good Easy Populate support thread where you may get better help (and more views), so maybe ask in there? I use EP and it's a great time-saver, but it can be very picky about file-size, and also the length of time a file takes to upload. I think the latter is a PHP setting on the server though. Maybe the file you are trying to upload is too big for EP to handle, or your upload connection a little too slow to to give time to upload the file and allow EP to process it before the server times out? Can you successfully upload and process a small EP file? If you can, then I would suggest (a) manually splitting your larger file into 2 or 3 smaller files (don't forget you need to also include the top line with the field names in each "split"), and also uploading them via FTP to the temp folder, rather than allowing EP to upload them from within the Admin Control Panel. FTP will be quicker with little chance of any time-outs, and then you can select the file to import and processing options (update, add new, normal) from within the Admin EP Control Panel. I guess it all depends if you can successfully upload and process a small file though... as I'm not familiar with your errors! Sorry.

Jan Zonjee Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 I get the Error when I try to upload the file. Im new to using this and not exactly sure on how to use it. Do you just upload and then import. Please help. I don't have a clue about Easy Populate, never used it. However, the errors are telling you that there is an issue with uploading the file through the webform you are using. Could be a number of reasons. Have you read the user notes on file uploads on the PHP website? But so what? Try using your FTP client to upload the EP file to catalog/temp/ and proceed from there if that is possible.
mc21repsol Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 File uploaded. Temporary filename: /tmp/phpa8lafu User filename: EP2010Sep17-1111.txt Size: 1259384 Have you checked the EP documentation to ascertain if it supports TXT files? I only ever use CSV files myself. Can you download a CSV file from Easy Populate? Have you tried the official EP support thread? As Jan has suggested, try uploading to the EP temp folder with your FTP client (I usually upload my CSV files with the Dreamweaver FTP client) rather than via the EP control panel. Run the EP insert command after it's been uploaded.

a.forever Posted September 25, 2010 Posted September 25, 2010 Although I don't know if EP supports TXT (since I always use CSV), have you checked to make sure you have an EOREOR column at the end? It signals the end of one item to begin a new one. Without it, all items following the first one won't update properly. Typical column headers for an EP file: v_products_model, v_products_name_1, v_products_description_1, v_products_url_1, v_products_image, v_products_price, v_products_quantity, v_date_avail, v_date_added, v_manufacturers_name, v_categories_name_1, v_categories_image_1, v_categories_name_2, v_categories_image_2, v_tax_class_title, v_status, EOREOR Mind you, I am using Easy Populate 2.76e.
thunder53218 Posted September 28, 2010 Author Posted September 28, 2010 Yes, The Spreadsheet is set to that format. It does work, but it only works for the first item. Im not sure why tho. I did look at how the Sheet was prepared. Basically what I did is Downloaded the txt file and made the Price increase to it and uploaded it. So I did not make any other changes so it should work, but it only works on the first item. i cannot figure out where or why it dies on me with no errors now. Please help!!!

So when I click on catalog, then Easy Populate it should be on the Left hand side Correct. Do you have to upload a file to get it to show up. My IT guy has no clue what im asking him.
thunder53218 Posted October 14, 2010 Author Posted October 14, 2010 We dont get a screen like the one you showed. How do I get to it.
♥geoffreywalton Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 Guess version 2.61 doesn't have that whereas 2.76f does. Edit /admin/easy_populate.php and see what value you have for // **** Max Category Levels **** // change this if you need more or fewer categories. // set this to the maximum depth of your categories. define ('EP_MAX_CATEGORIES', 7); // default is 7 Your file has 10 categories in it so this needs to be atleast 10 or you should reduce the no of columns in your input file.
