scandic_outlet Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 HI all anyone knows if/how its possible to run 2 shops/sites, sharing the product database? My case: I have 1 webshop for germany, and 1 webshop in england. I basically want to run both webstores completely as separate shops, only they share the same warehouse/inventory. So - my idea was if its possible to somehow share the product relatd tables in the db? BEcause as stock is limited, it would be nice to be able to constantly have this part somehow shared. Is my questions understandable? if not, please let me know and i'll try to rephrase.. Thanks. Michael Dedicated OsCommerce user. 2011 will be the return of OsC
deluded Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 Another option might be to try a third-party inventory management application. One application is the Yobiz eRetail IPS (http://eretail.yobiz.com/ips). It centralizes inventory management and integrates with osCommerce to allow you to manage shared inventory in one central location even if you have multiple stores. Check it out and let me know what you think.
Mrstech Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 I am trying the same possibility. I copy my file structure under the new domain and point to the same database. Customers registration, order and so on seems to work fine. I am though penalized with the fact that I need to duplicate my products pictures and any given document. I wonder if you got it working any other way? Mrstech
ozEworks Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 With images it is possible to also share them. You need to set up some kind of symbolic link to associate the two image folders. I know we did it years ago but I am rusty on how we did it. Getting old!
