Hello, depending on what application method you are using to change the permissions.... I use my FTP program to change permissions, but I had to purchase a good quality program that allows that to be done. My earlier freebie FTP app would not do that. I'd make the change, but the change did not go through. Another effective way is through your host control panel..>file manager. My host's file manager has and easy to use permissions changing capability. If those don't work, hopefully someone else has an idea. Good luck. I am not a professional webmaster or PHP coder by background or training but I will try to help as best I can. I remember what it was like when I first started with osC. It can be overwhelming. However, I strongly recommend considering hiring a professional for extensive site modifications, site cleaning, etc. There are several good pros here on osCommerce. Look around, you'll figure out who they are.

♥altoid Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 thanks for the advice am using smart ftp, just download filezilla still the same. tried the Cpanel on sever but i cant change file permission can only text edit it My host file manager has file/folder management, plust the CHMOD capability. Make sure that's not available there. My hunch it is and your tech support could point you in the right direction. Or maybe one of the experts here has another idea. Look for any post by MrPhil here in the forums. See his FAQ signature for some persmissions help. BTW I am using SmartFTP, you have to pay for it, but it has more functionality than some other FTP programs. It handles CHMOD easily. Good luck.
