EetieD Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 Hi all, I am new to oscommerce, so forgive me if this question is too easy. I was wondering how to create a test environment in the right way. I want to update the 'Admin Access Level Account'. For safety reasons, I wanted to create a test environment: I copied the folder 'httpdocs/.../admin' to 'httpdocs/.../admincopy', and I implemented the needed changes for upgrading in the folder 'admincopy'. Unfortunately, when I access the 'http://.../admincopy' URL, I got redirected to the original URL 'http://.../admin'. Is anyone familiar with this problem? If yes, how can I solve this problem? I hope someone can help me. Thanks in advance. EetieD.

I have never tried to do it that way, but it is obvious that your new directory configure.php files contains pointers to your original admin folder. And doing it this way you run the risk of corrupting something outside of your test envrionment, since it uses the same database. I would bite the bullet and install osC into a subfolder, password protected, using a separate database. Use this for testing. Community Bootstrap Edition, Edge Avoid the most asked question. jhande Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 You could also setup a localhost test version on your PC using XAMPP version 1.6.1. - :: Jim :: - - My Toolbox ~ Adobe Web Bundle, XAMPP & WinMerge | Install ~ osC v2.3.3.4 -
