charles
I'm still working on my pricing mod. It's coming along well but ideas keep "happening". I have a question about writing mods for OSC. charles
Actually, I guess it would have been smart to ask the question  . When writing a mod, how important is it to stick with current structure or are minor changes such as addition of a field in a database table and splitting an existing program in two to create a subroutine in order to facilitate the mod OK. My original idea works fine without the addition of a field but I feel to add it would enhance the bigger picture of modularity of the software for the future. Ajeh
That is really what Add-ons are all about ... You either are taking advantage of what is already there to add a new feature ... or you are creating new peices and parts in the way of fields, functions, classes, pages, etc. to make these new features. Basically, just document everything so it can be reproduced from your add-on by someone else based on their current shop. You pick the date of the snapshot your are building from ... The person using it either has that snapshot, or needs to bring their shop current to use it ... or dreams about having the feature one day for their own ... 8)
charles
Yes, well, now that I have made myself uncomfortably conspicuous by asking a question without asking it and since there is no emoticon for 'shrinking into the woodwork' I will invent one. It is the illustrious period... ===> . <=== So, how do I post an add on? do I zip up the two files I changed plus the new one I created along with a readme with instructions and upload it via FTP somewhere? If so what are the FTP instructions and where is the site? Thanks, Charles We stand in ignorance only for questions not asked. Ajeh
Well ... a good start is to click on the Contributions Forum ... click the Sticky at the top for How to ... and write nice docs to help those of us who read really really slow ...
