Neil, just to make sure were on the same page, its the /includes/configure.php permissions that probably causing this. On my system they need to be set to 444.

I am not a professional webmaster or PHP coder by background or training but I will try to help as best I can.

I remember what it was like when I first started with osC. It can be overwhelming.

However, I strongly recommend considering hiring a professional for extensive site modifications, site cleaning, etc.

There are several good pros here on osCommerce. Look around, you'll figure out who they are.

Neil,

All folders should be 755 or better 705 and all files should be 644 or better 604 EXCEPT the TWO configure.php files which should be 444. If the changes are no being accepted by your host using an FTP program then you will have to do it through cpanel.

Thankyou so much for your responses. I have ftp'd BOTH files to 444 with no change.

What is it I head for on the cpanel please?

Thankyou

Neil,

Your Hosting Provider obviously will not allow you to set permissions using FTP. Log into your hosting control panel (cpanel, plesk, etc) and look for the file manager.

Using the file manager, locate the TWO configure.php files and click them, selecting permissions, change them to 444.

Hello Chris,

Apologies for the delay in coming back.

Yes, the 444 via cpanel was what was needed.

Thankyou for your help
