varnco Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 I have a site running which has been running since 2004. I'm currently on MS2.2-MS2 and I am getting hacked where my index.php is either replaced by their own or it's deleted entirely and replaced with a default.php one. I've installed security contributions, renamed admin folder, deleted filemanager, etc. Anywho: I have a heavily modded site, both in terms of contributions, layout, and changes to the code. (1) How difficult is it to upgrade to the RC2a to get those security fixes? (2) If I were to simply "make" a new website to use RC2a.. how do I move my customer base, reviews, etc. over from the old site to the new one? Which is more difficult.. 1 or 2? Quite a few questions, I know it can vary, but any guidance is appreciated
Guest Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 Varn, It has been my experience in the past that upgrading takes just as long, if not longer than installing a new cart. I have found that a modified store will have contribution issues with the upgraded base code in some cases so I don't usually upgrade, I create a new one and install the updates contributions along with it. Chris Thanks, Know of any "good" template sources out there that don't have the code hacked to death? I bought one once and it took me forever to get it close to W3C verified.
Guest Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Varnco, Not really. It is hit or miss when you purchase a template it all depends on the template creator. Chris
