Guest Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 Hi new here, and am trying to find information. I have not installed OSC yet, but I can't locate the answer to this question. Is it possible to set up a spreadsheet in Excel perhaps, and then have OSC import the data? Or do products need to be created using OSC? Hope that makes sense.
Guest Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 David, Yes, you can import from a CSV(Spreadsheet) file into osCommerce using Easy Populate: http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/500 Chris
Guest Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 Great. I'm beginning to like OSC very much already. Thanks for the quick reply! -Dave
Guest Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 When the php file is copied to the admin directory, is there anything else to do? I restarted OSC and do not see Easy Populate in the admin panels.
Guest Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 David, Follow all the instructions to install Easy Populate and ALWAYS MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR FILES BEFORE EDITING. Chris
Guest Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 Chris, The only instructions included with the php file said, "Just copy and replace /admin/easypopulate.php" Literally, that's all the file says  I have looked at the other links on the Easy Populate page, but there are so many and I don't see one just called install instructions. I'm sorry to be a pain! Is there a better source for instructions? Dave
Guest Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 David, Then you have only downloaded a patch. Look for a Full Package Product that will contain all the instructions and files you need to run Easy Populate. Chris
Guest Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 Ah, ok. That would make sense why the instructions were short. Thank you again.
Guest Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 David, You didn't think it was going to be that easy did you ?  Chris
