Hi guys,

In product_info i want to make a text link that will first detect the manufacturer of the product displaying and then show a text link to have a link like "more from this manufacturer" (so how can i get it to identify the manufacturer of the current product showing and for it to then link to that manufacturer.

hope this make sense.

Also need one for the category too. so "more from same category"

Thanks in advance to whoever can point me in the right direction.

Caroline,

In a standard setup, the manufactures box appears on the right column when a customer is viewing the product. If they click that manufacturer box, they are shown all products on your site from that manufacturer.

thanks chris, yeah but not wanting that what i am looking for is when in the product info page say the item is made by brand A and product no 1.

Now on product no 1 page i want it to recognise that "hey this is made by brand A" so it would then show a link to that category ie. See all Brand A's items.

On click it would then go to the root manufacturers results (just like if you were to go there via the drop down)

Also one for category - so it recognises that product no 1 belongs to say category no 3. So it would then have a link to that category's list.

Does this make sense.

anyone?

I managed to get it to display the manufacturers Name corresponding to the item on the page but not so that it links to the manufacturers list of products when clicked.

As Chris tried to explain, this is default behaviour on the oscommerce product page. On any product there is a manufacturers box with 2 links by default. One goes to the manufactures website, the other goes to your site's manufacturer page listing all other products by that manufacturer.

Thought you might be using a template. Well you can start looking in includes/column_right.php, and/or includes/boxes/manufacturers_info.php. Hope that helps.
