denzaldog Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 Can anyone help me with a solution to blocking traffic from China from using my site and stealing all my bandwidth? I only sell to UK sites but have found that in the last week Baiduspiders have taken over half of my monthly bandwith allowance. There seem to be hundreds of IP addresses so I'm just hoping there is some coding that can block Chinese users once and for all. Thanks
multimixer Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 I think you need this -> Protect your site via htaccess My community profile | Template system for osCommerce - New: Responsive | Feedback channel
Guest Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 Sue, You can block entire countries using the .htacess file. This site will generate all of the IP's from china and put them into a format for your .htaccess so all you have to do is copy and paste them in. http://www.blockacountry.com/htaccess.php Chris
denzaldog Posted August 26, 2010 Author Posted August 26, 2010 Thanks for the advice - will doing either of these things compromise the performance of my shop? We have worked really hard to built up an excellent business and I'm a bit worried that customers may experience the shop slowing down.
Guest Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 Sue, No, your customers won't know anything has changed.........unless ofcourse they are from China. China customers will receive an error when trying to load your site. Chris
