Hi all, just installed OSC and everything seems ok so far except a lot of the icon images are not showing, such as "ADD TO CART" "REVIEWS" etc.

I've checked and the image files are uploaded and permissions set ok.

Please help, thanks a lot :)

Copy/paste a URL to one of the buttons that don't show into your browser address bar.

What do you get as a result?

If I suggest you edit any file(s) make a backup first - I'm not perfect and neither are you.

I get this

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, [email protected] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Also in firefox when i go to image properties and scroll thru all the images, every image that is in the English directory will not show, its listed as a txt/html file instead of a gif etc

Usually means you have a miscoded .htaccess file in the path.

Start at the /includes folder looking for a .htaccess file. If you find one rename it to text.htaccess. Check to see if the buttons show.

Go to the next folder up the tree and try the same thing until the images show.

Yeah nice one, i renamed the first .htaccess file i saw in /includes Dir.

It all works now, thanks a lot!

Do i need to know anything else about this/these file(s)?

Or am i ok to just carry on now?

I have one in the /includes folder that has this content:

#
# This is used with Apache WebServers
# The following blocks direct HTTP requests in this directory recursively
#
# For this to work, you must include the parameter 'Limit' to the AllowOverride configuration
#
# Example:
#
#<Directory "/usr/local/apache/htdocs">
# AllowOverride Limit
#
# 'All' with also work. (This configuration is in your apache/conf/httpd.conf file)
#
# This does not affect PHP include/require functions
#
# Example: http://server/catalog/includes/application_top.php will not work

<Files *.php>
Order Deny,Allow
Deny from all
</Files>

It doesn't stop the buttons from showing.

You really need one there with the correct content.

I'd suggect making a backup of yours and try the content I posted.

I'm quite a n00b with all this so dont really understand what the file is doing.

I checked the .htaccess file in /includes (that is now a text.htaccess) and it reads exactly as yours.

So i dont know what to do :'(

Still cant this thing to work, images will only show when i rename the includes/.htaccess to text.htaccess.

This and the homepage not showing in Firefox are the only problems i have but cant progress until they are fixed :'(

Just found this on my hosts knowledge base (fasthosts)

COuld this be the problem? If so what do i do to all my htaccess files? :'(

The .htaccess file

The .htaccess file allows customised configuration settings to be applied to a specific directory (and any subdirectories thereof) on a Linux webserver.

Note: The .htaccess file described in this article relates to Linux servers only, and should not be confused with the file of the same name created by Frontpage Extensions on a Windows server.

The .htaccess file will allow changes to the folllowing configurations:

Mod_rewrite This allows you to manipulate URL's to make them more user and search engine friendly. More information regarding the use of this feature can be found in our article: Mod_rewrite on Linux web servers.

Password Protection It is not possible to add password protection directly by creating a .htaccess file, however this feature can be created through your Fasthosts control panel.

Custom error pages It is not possible to add custom error pages by creating a .htaccess file, however this feature can be created through your Fasthosts control panel.

Frontpage Extensions If you are using Frontpage extensions to publish your website a .htaccess file will be created. This will be managed and maintained by Frontpage.

All other features of the .htaccess file have been disabled on our shared hosting servers.
