cg180659 Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 Hi All! Is there a way to use oscommerce as an instant pin delivery system. I'd like to sell phone cards with oscommerce, but there is no current contribution for that. i don't have the money nor the skill to make one myself. the closest thing i could find was "Virtual Products 0.7" but that is almost 4 years ago, and hasn't been updated. the maintainers have abandoned the project. So I'm guessing OSC is only good for "physical" products and not "virtual" products? Please advise, P.S - I've been in this dilemma for years. I started off with OSC for another store that was selling cellphones, but now I want to sell phone cards... SPACE FOR RENT!
Guest Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 Hello, You can sell Virtual Products with osCommerce. It comes standard with a download controller. You need only create the product, assign it the download attribute and upload the downloadable file to the /download directory. Having said that, you may want to update the download controller with this one that has added functionality and security. http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/4868 Chris

The client will not be DOWNLOADING anything, they will be recieving their "product" via email. The customer area would then keep track of the cards that they purchased. Is their something like that for OSCommerce? Where a new, unique PIN is emailed to the customer based on the product they select? I'll be generating the unique PIN from my phonecard billing machine, and if i could upload it as a .csv file, so basically, I'll provide the unique PINs... SPACE FOR RENT!
Guest Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 Hi Krystnya, I am not aware of any such contribution at this time. I was thinking of the logic for this, meaning the email system could access the database for the next PIN but, there would be a problem as the PIN would need to be accessed to match the cell phone provider. Unfortunately, I wouldn't know anything that could even be modified for this function. Chris
cg180659 Posted August 17, 2010 Author Posted August 17, 2010 Hi Chris, The PIN would be a random number that my calling card machine will generate, so it won't need to match anything. It would just have to be emailed once a successful payment is done, and then deleted from the database. Here's ideally how it would work: 1/ I go to admin area, import CSV of pin numbers. Each pin number is unique, and generated by my calling card machine. There will be NO generation on OSCommerce's side. The database will hold the pins. Once a pin is sent out, it can't be sold again. 2/ Customer sees card, clicks add to cart. Each quantity = a new PIN sent out. Customer signs up as usual. PIN is released only when payment has been confirmed and received via credit card 3/ OSCommerce emails PIN numbers in email. In customer portal, customer will be able too see old PINs purchased. That's how I would like it to work. The SPACE FOR RENT!
