Adding Products

Hi, All

 

I am new to osCommerce but like the designs of the stores so I am looking to use it for my shop front to sell goods, the question I have is whats the best way to add products to my web site is it best to do it from the back end or can i add the products on my office computer & then import them to my site, I am looking to add images for all products as well so need to do this at the same time.

 

Beleave this might be a stupid question but as I have never use osCommerce before I would like any help so I dont waste time updating products when i could have save time by just asking. the amount of products will be around 2,000 +

 

Any tips or advice I will take on board.

If you have a CSV file of the products, you could use Easy Populate to import the CSV and then just upload the images to the /image directory.

What kind of 'list' do you have your products in?

My old site I hat to add products via internet explorer & log into a site, I just checked with them & they dont support CSV files (probably why I am transfering over to osCommerce)

 

My current site was does as the starting project & now business has developed I am in need of more from my shop etc..... mainly my products available from my suppliers is growing & I would like to be able to grow my list of products to my consumers as well.

 

What kind of 'list' do you have your products in?

I have looked at the CSV file & its looks easy enough to use.... my only concern is can I create different sheets within the CSV file e.g. for different catergories etc or is it best to have everything altogether.....I am worried that with so many products to add that I may forget some or add twice etc...
