Guest Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 I just installed the osCommerce to my website http://2753productions.com , though I have not linked it yet through a page, I am glad too that I still have my eShop there too, because I am completely lost with this osCommerce thing. I created a product and category in my store, it warns me that I do not have a file uploaded, though I have NOT one single iota of a clue as to WHERE to upload the file to OR how to link that file to the product, so pretty much I am lost. Called PayPal and made sure I had all my ducks in a row for the store site http://store.2753productions.com and when I started asking her questions about the settings in the paypal module in the admin panel - she could not help as she was unfamiliar with the osCommerce site. She suggested I call their support - I do MUCH better on a phone with support then through these forums - frankly I don't do forums, I don't like them. So it all boils down to IS there phone support for newbs like me? If not - is there a CLEAR and concise set of instructions meant for someone who does not speak computer gobbledy-gook? I can build a computer with my eyes closed - almost, I can navigate around just about any 3D program out there - but gobbledy-gook, html & php make my eyeballs bleed. Frankly if something doesn't happen I will just delete the osCommerce and take another route. So - help anyone?
germ Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 No - no phone support. If I suggest you edit any file(s) make a backup first - I'm not perfect and neither are you. Guest Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 No - no phone support. So no phone support... how about good clear ENGLISH instructions anywhere? I have looked through the forums and most people are talking html this and html that - I need step by step until I learn it. Anything like that?
lagodilecco Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 It is hard to get going with something unfamiliar and getting your site going with osCommerce is going to take patience and commitment. There is no phone support. People do their best to help, but they are doing it out of goodwill, and as time allows. There is no beating about the bush - getting osCommerce to work how you want can be frustrating (and I speak from experience!). If you really dislike "computer gobbledy-gook" then having "another route" is actually a sensible option.

Thank you for your response, I decided to use Cube Cart instead, and already have several products, legal documentation and the like uploaded, all within a matter of minutes :)
