Guest Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 I'm toying with the idea of getting a Virtual Machine package as I have to switched hosts, as I'll need a fair amount of disk space over time as I'll be building a shop selling downloadable goods. But I dont know that much about them. At least with shared hosting I know I'll have email, mySQL databases etc. all included, but can anyone tell me how it works with VM or dedicated server packages? Do you just get the server and that's it, so you have to arrange email and databases etc. yourself. I'm starting to think that's the case as these features never seemed to be mentioned in the packages I've seen. So I thought maybe someone here might have a bit of knowledge:)
web-project Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Shared hosting or VP/dedicated server? recommend the VP/Dedicated, but you need managed or if you know linux - self managed. The advantage is server resource. Please read this line: Do you want to find all the answers to your questions? click here. As for contribution database it's located here! 8 people out of 10 don't bother to read installation manuals. I can recommend: if you can't read the installation manual, don't bother to install any contribution yourself. Before installing contribution or editing/updating/deleting any files, do the full backup, it will save to you & everyone here on the forum time to fix your issues. Any issues with oscommerce, I am here to help you.
