Customer is getting 2 emails adivising of the their oder

After completing an order through the checkout the customer is receiving 2 emails advising them that their order is being processed.

Where is the problem and how do I fix this? (Sorry for the typo's in the thread title...rushing as usual and unable to edit)

i have the same problem, what payment module(s) are you using? i also have the problem in the customers account that two orders are showing with different order numbers (the emails correspond to these and in the admin area two orders appear for the customer, one says preparing[paypal standard] and the other says processing. i am using paypal website payments standard
