Titusaduxas Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 Hi My first post and a complete newbie so please be gentle ;) I only have 3 items in my catalogue at present and all 3 have the same price tag £8.49. Two of these items when added to the cart retain the true price of £8.49 but the third of the 3 items doubles in price when added to cart  . When added it displays £16.98 in the cart total. If I then increase the items purchased to x2 the cart total displays £33.96 and so it goes on. Where is the calculation made ? and how will I alter it ?. Your help would be most welcome as this is giving me a headache everytime I look into it, must be with me banging my head against the brick wall :D . Thanks Titus

Apologies if I have it wrong. Phil This item: Ellie the Eliminator Has a price of 8.49. There is one attribute that adds 8.49. So your price is doubled. Generally if you set up attributes, it is because there is more than one. The base model would add zero and the others would either add or subtract the appropriate amount. Tim

Tim Thanks Tim I think I understand. I do indeed have two of the same item but different colouration, same item, different model if you like. I will be honest here and admit I did not realize I had set up any 'Attributes' I just followed the instruction manual to add items parrot fashion. I have never done this kind of thing before so am on a steep learning curve at present and blundering my way through. Thanks for your guidance, at least now I know where to look to rectify even though I am not sure what I should be altering. Thanks Phil

Thanks Phil If you have lure A and it comes in 2 different color schemes, then you can either set them up as 2 separate products, or as 1 with attributes. Be warned, the stock oscommerce does not have many bells and whistles for attributes. The first problem I encountered was I ran out of stock for the second variety and could not turn off the stock level without turning off both items. So I settled for creating 2 separate and distinct products. If you choose attributes, then the base item is say $18. If the first variation of the base item is a larger size, then your attribute would be large and say +$3. If your first attribute is just a color difference with no increase in price, then the attribute might be red + $0. Tim
