Hi guys!

This is the first time when I am working with osCommerce, so I'm a little bit confused. That's why I'm asking for your help :)

I have a client, who wanted to re-design one of his websites (informative website, not on-line shop). I am designer not coder, but I know html&css, AS3 and JavaScript quite good and some basic stuff from PHP. We talked about that new design and then he asked me if I can also help him to make some changes in the online shop. And I think you all guys know, how hard is to say "No" to a client even if you don't know a sh*t about what he is asking :)

So here is the situation: he has a working webshop powered by osCommerce. Everything is working fine, but now he wants that one of the categories is visible only for resellers.

I started to figure out how I can do that and this how I see this situation (please tell me if I'm wrong): If I understood everything right, then I have to make customer groups. The first problem I faced with was that I have to find something that will separate normal client from reseller, so looked in the register form. I saw that there is blank field called "company's name". If we think logical then a normal client will leave this space empty, but reseller will write in the name of the company. So, is it possible to make two customer groups only from this? I need to divide all existing clients in those two groups. And I want to make that all new clients are divided into those groups automatically...

I saw some good codes for hiding categories from customer groups in this forum, but right now my problem is to make those customer groups. It would be very great if you could give me some tips about this or some good links where I can find needed information.

Please let me know your opinion about this task and the way I think, because this is a totally new thing for me.

Thank you for your attention! ^_^

P.s.

Sorry for my English!

The 2 contributions are related but they do involve a lot of coding and file changes maybe a full day + on a shop there are a lot of file changes.

To improve is to change; to be perfect is to change often.

Thank you very much!

I will check them out, but as I said - I'm not so good at coding. But I will try :)
