Many Thanks, DDDannn Hi, Since you are in essence changing your domaine name, as the new extension makes it a new domain, you need to ask your webhoster how to handle it if you are staying with him. They may have you buy the new domaine name first, then give you the right to use the hosting space. Be sure beforehand to download to your computer all of your site including the database so you will be able to fully upload it after the name change!!!!! Once changed of course you will have to modify your catalog/includes/configure.php and admin/includes/configure.php files to reflect the change. Note that some add-ons like Sitemonitor need changing too. Now if you are changing hosters instead of staying with the same the process can take 2-10 days according to your choice of a new hoster and the Registrar with whom you have your domain registered. In that case (still having backed up all your files) ask your future hoster how to proceed. Hope this helps. Barbara

DDDannn Posted August 5, 2010 Author Posted August 5, 2010 Hello Barbara, Thank you ever so much for answering my topic, I am my own host with a private server ao no issues there. Can you explain please what I will have to modify in the documents you state please , perhaps with examples. The reason I ask is because I have to use the reader to find the right part and it is so easy to make mistakes. Thanks again, I am indeed grateful. DDDannn

DDDannn Hello Dann, In you catalog/includes/configure.php AND your admin/includes/configure.php files you nee just to trplace all instances of tour domain name with the new one, not touching the rest, so for example http://www.mydomain.org or www.mydomain.org are replaced by http://www.mydomain.co.uk and www.mydomain.co.uk. Also be sure that your modules like payment modules that may use the domain path are also changed, as well as any add-on like Sitemonitor which uses it too. And do not forget to change your mail to reflect the new address. Hope this helps! Barbara
