JanetEdkins Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 I'm a newbie, but with a little bit of what I hope is common sense. I manually installed a coupons code add-on last week and, as it works, I figure that I got it right and I'll move on to the next one with confidence. Now comes Purchase Without Account - in French! Then I see everyone talking about 'AutoInstall' and I think it's treat day. The zip file I have is the latest one but as it's in French I can't figure out if there are any installation instructions for the autoinstall. I also can't seem to figure out what keywords to use on this forum to get an answer. I'm hoping those of you who know the lingo will point me in the right direction for a solution. Thanks in advance. Guest Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 MAKE A BACK UP NOW ! Janet, The contribution by Pektsekye is in English. MAKE A BACK UP NOW IF YOU DIDN'T DO IT YET ! After you unzip it, FTP it to your hosting account and then point your browser at the directory. Usually something like this: www.yourdomain.com/catalog/pwa_autoinstaller THIS IS YOUR LAST CHANCE TO MAKE A BACK UP. I HOPE YOU MADE ONE ! It will do some checks and then you click the INSTALL button. That's it. Chris ps. I hope you noticed how many time I said to make a back up. Quote
JanetEdkins Posted August 2, 2010 Author Posted August 2, 2010 I did take full notice of your instructions I will make a backup before I do anything else, and appreciate your time greatly. I quick Q if you don't mind - do you think installing this will overwrite my installation last week of coupon codes? I noticed in the zip file there are some of the same file names! J Quote
Guest Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 Janet, No, it will add the necessary code to the files. Most auto installers will STOP if there is a conflict that the auto installer can not rectify. If you find yourself dealing with conflicts that you can not manually rectify then you will have an option at the end to UN-Install as well. Auto Installers are usually pretty good, just watch for conflicts and test the installation BEFORE you close the window with the UN-Install button on it. Chris Quote
JanetEdkins Posted August 2, 2010 Author Posted August 2, 2010 Thanks Chris - appreciate your knowledge. And thanks for mentioning the pektsekye english version. Part of my confusion was that I had the wrong zip file - so much for common sense :) Thanks again Quote
