Optional Extras

I'm not sure if this is the right forum; however ...

I'm trying to set up a computers and computer components shop using oscommerce. Setting up the components part is easy.

But the way I want to sell the computers is to list a range of basic configurations designated by what they would be used for (e.g., Basic Home Computer), then for each allow the customer to specify upgrades (e.g., more RAM, bigger HDD, etc). I thought I'd be able to do this using PC Pro Creator, but it requires the customer to choose every component, which means they have to have a reasonable level of technical knowledge - something I don't want to assume.

I can't identify another add-on to achieve this, but I would have thought there would be a way to add, for a specific product, optional extras that are relevant to that product. So I can then configure the basic PC, and add the upgrades as optional extras - but they would need to be extras specific to that product. It's important, of course, that the optional extra does not appear as a separately purchase-able item in the components part of the shop (e.g., it doesn't make sense to sell an upgrade from a 500GB HDD to a 1GB HDD without a PC!)

Can anyone suggest how to do this?

Thanks in advance,

Edwin

Hi,

Have a look at the Option Types V2 Contribution.

It allows you to add options per product as either text boxes, radio buttons, check boxes or even images.

Thanks

If you like I can pm you a url where you can see what it does.

Now running on a fully modded, Mobile Friendly 2.3.4 Store with the Excellent MTS installed - See my profile for the mods installed ..... So much thanks for all the help given along the way by forum members.

Thanks, DunWeb; that was the one I first looked at (and assumed that it would do the job). But as I've said, that required a level of technical knowledge on the part of our customers that I couldn't assume.
