mychoicegames.com Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 I just started with oscommerce. I was previously using magento, but found it to be too difficult. Now what I did first was changed the logo on my store. At the top of the web page I get this warning. I don't know what it exactly means and I would appreciate someone explaining it. Warning: I am able to write to the configuration file: /home/mychoice/public_html/includes/configure.php. This is a potential security risk - please set the right user permissions on this file.
Guest Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 Tyler, Use the file manager in your cpanel or an FTP program to change the permissions on the two configure.php files found here: catalog>includes> catalog>admin>includes> Chris
Guest Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 Tyler, Read the post above. You have two options, you change them by logging into your hosting provider and using the file manager to change them, OR you can use your FTP to access the files and change them Chris

Guest Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 Tyler, You are not altering the code, just changing permissions. If you are in your file manager (through your hosting provider) then select the file, look at the top that says permissions......click that and the current permissions will be displayed. Change the current permissions to 444 if you can or 644 if your server will not allow 444. if you are using an FTP, right click on the configure.php file and change the permissions. Chris
