Guest Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 Hey all. I'm one of the newbies, so bear with me. I'm making progress in setting up our shopping cart, but I see one thing as a potential lingering issue so I don't want to do more work until I figure it out. We do not have an SSL (we can't currently afford it), and I was told that since we're only doing PayPal payments that we wouldn't need one since we would never actually have a customer's credit card # or any other information like that in our database. Thing is, OSC seems to require that customers create an account and log in, and there is plenty of personal information there (Name, address, phone number). I'm wondering if it's necessary for a customer to create an account at all, and if not, how do I get rid of the feature? If it's needed, is there a way to change what information is required? Can anybody help here? I don't want customer information to be available to everybody, but certain security measures are cost prohibitive right now (and for the foreseeable future).
