dearjenni Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 Hi, I have installed v1 of Paypal Website Payments Standard (via my OSCommerce Admin Area) which is supposed to allow credit card payments as well as paypal account holder payments. I go through the checkout process with no problems but when it gets to the Paypal page there is no option if you don't have a paypal account (i.e. nothing to allow you to pay by credit card). Can someone help please. (it works fine if you have a paypal account by the way). Also if I want to install Paypal express is asks for API information. Where do I find that please (i.e. API Username/password/etc). I've searched the forums and couldn't find anything (paypal say it's provided by either the hosting company or yourselves, so while I'm here I thought I'd ask!!!) Thanks and hope to hear back from someone soon as I'm losing customers that don't have paypal accounts. Quote

Ok, so I found a post and requested the API info from Paypal directly and installed Paypal express checkout. The Paypal button appears at the checkout page, but again when it takes me to the Paypal page I still only get the option to log on with my paypal account - NO OPTION FOR PAYING BY CREDIT CARD Pleeeease help! What am I doing wrong?? Quote
Guest Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 Jennifer, Log into your PayPal account, under your profile you will find 'Payment Receiving Preferences'. In there, you will have choices to accept credit cards. Chris Quote

♥toyicebear Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 (edited) If you clear your browsers cache and cookies and try going to the checkout again you will get the option of paying by cc at the Paypal site.... If a cookie is set identifying you as having a PayPal account already, you will only see the paypal login on the payment page. I also contacted Paypal and they said they've looked into it and the problem should be resolved but it isn't. Instead of getting the Log-in to Paypal box and a link asking to register for Paypal I now get the log-in box and the fields to complete to register instead of a link taking you to another page. Still no credit card option. I am at my wits end and have 16 customers who have added stuff to their basket but not completed their order as there's no CC option. I also tried installing Express again but exactly the same still. Quote

I decided to try upgrading my paypal to Payments Pro and although it's still in the pending stage I suddenly got the option in my web payment preferences to accept alternative payments other than paypal!! I'm not happy in the sense that this should have worked without be having to upgrade and it costing me £20 a month!!!! I have emailed paypal and told them I want my account to remain as is without the upgrade but that if I then lose the option for CC payments again I will not be happy! Thanks for all your help guys, xx Quote
CotswoldEngraver Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 I have the option to accept credit/debit cards on the website and have the standard paypal account. The option to accept credit/debit cards is in my profile under the 'website payment preferences' option; 'paypal account optional' preference. Quote
