Caroline_i Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 Hi all, I have installed OSCommerce, very proud of myself, but am now getting this error : Warning: mysql_num_rows(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in \path_to\install\includes\functions\database.php on line 39 Can't see why.. finding my way around php and mysql.. but now sure why I'm getting this when I haven't even got started yet. Also after it said congratulations you've successfully installed OScommerce... and I hit catalog or administration buttons to see what happens I get this error : 1146 - Table 'should_be_name_of_db.configuration' doesn't exist select configuration_key as cfgKey, configuration_value as cfgValue from configuration [TEP STOP] Rgds Caroline
Jan Zonjee Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 I have installed OSCommerce, very proud of myself, but am now getting this error : You say you installed but the error mentions a file in the install directory: install\includes\functions\database.php. That contradicts your claim of it being installed and I suppose you entered the wrong data in the input fields when you tried to install it.

I have a web page that says congratulations you have installed Oscommerce and the installation & configuration was sucessful ... and then the error message at the top of the page - so that is why I was saying I have successfully installed it. Do you suppose you might offer an explanation on how to rectify the problem ? Instead of pointing out the obvious that I have a problem with it. I redid the steps and am now only getting the first error message. So any help would be great.

I'm no expert, but I just had the same error message and I discovered that I was pointing my domain name to the wrong folder. For example, if my domain name is mywebsite.com, but I have the oscommerce installed into mywebsite.com/store or public_html/store. I hope that helps.
