beats
Hi all, I have posted on the forum before and have had some valuable assistance, I have just about completed my live shop however I have became stuck with regards to having the domain set up. Bit of background info on my issue. I had set up the OSC install through my hosting provider and had not received the domain name from my client yet. So it was pointing to the default domain name on my hosting package which was rmcustomupholstery.com which I used for testing. I have finished the site and the last thing I had to do was to point the name domain to the necessary index file and change the 2 configure files with the new domain, I had changed this over and had no success, I had pointed the domain to the index file and it all came up fine however, when I tried to log into the admin section it said page not found as was pointing to the rmcustomupholstery.com path in the address toolbar and not www.vintageinspriationsuk.com as i though it would, Is there more files that I need to change outwith the 2 configure files. This is the second shop I have done and never had this problem in the first instances Now I don’t even get a page up when I go to www.vintageinspirationsuk.com and if I try to view my site on the old destination path I have a blank screen. Any help or assistance will be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading my post Alex

beats
Hi all just to give you an update on this, I have got the configure files now showing, so when you type in the domain www.vintageinspirationsuk.com it comes up with the site but looses all styling. Also when you click on any of the links in the header section it says page not found. I have pointed the vintageinspirationuk domain to this folder /htdocs/VI/oscommerce-2.2rc2a/oscommerce-2.2rc2a/catalog/ in my file manager However when going into my File manager on my hosting provider and click to preview the index file for example, all I have changed is the domain in the 2 configure files to vintageinspirationsuk it still shows up with rmcustomupholstery in the path with no formatting .http://rmcustomupholstery.com/VI/oscommerce-2.2rc2a/oscommerce-2.2rc2a/catalog/index.php However if i go back in to the configure files and change them back to rmcupholstery domain the files show fine and when I type in the domain www.vintageinspirationsuk.com the file is fine but the links don't work in the file path. I have checked the contri file about http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=193738 but I'm no further forward, I know there has been a couple of views on this post all ready, has any one had this issue before, if you need me to post my configure files please let me know again thanks in advance
beats
Hi all just to keep you in the loop on how this is progressing if you are following this thread. I have all the files now pointing to the correct domain, http://www.vintageinspirationsuk.com/ however the issue I now have is that there is none of the styling/images showing as you can see by clicking on the site. Also when i go to access my admin section it points to the previous test domain still and when, I put in my login and pw credentials it takes me to the new domain path however once the enter the details it says page not found? Thanks Alex
brseward
Hi alex i think you need to get the sites symbolically linked to the main website Sorry I am not a programmer but someone else seeing this can jump in and help here if the know how to do this.. beats
Hi there Bill thanks for taking the time out to post on this thread, Ok were i'm at now, i have reverted all my changes to my config files and put the rmcustomupholstery.com domain back in there, As i thought that would get me back to square one, and got my site back the way it should be, So just to confirm i have my domain (vintageinspir...... pointing to my set of folders so that it picks them up. So now when i type in my domain http://www.vintageinspirationsuk.com/ the site comes up and all my bespoke links work, so doing some testing on the site and the bedded in links for processing a sale point to the rm domain as you'd expect as this is the domain in the config files however this is not ideal as it shows another domain in the address bar and is unprofessional, I can now access the admin section also, Has anyone encountered this issue before? I thought it would be fairly straight to point a new domain to the files but for some reason it not working for me :( thanks in advance
