Guest Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 My host offers FTP, of course, but I'd like to use secure FTP to upload files. Does anyone have any recommendations for sFTP software to use, or on how to make the process more secure. Also, what do some of you do out there regarding your database backup. I'm intending to set up a shop so I would need to back up client info that's on the database, but I don't really want to store this on my computer at home, but I need to back it up somewhere in case the server should go down or something. Does anyone have any recommendations? Many thanks in advance for any replies :)
rfstech Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 for sFTP software you can use a free client called filezilla you can download it at: http://filezilla-project.org/download.php (choose the appropriate operating system package) After installing the program you will have to sign into your host using the 'site manager'. I can explain step by step instructions later. You can store files on freely available storage space. Google free storage space. I advice that you use a mechanism to secure your database backup if you use free storage space. I winrar my files and put a password on the archive. hope this helps.
